The following eBook is a collection of articles, blogs, and essays that I wrote between April 2018 and January 2019. In April 2018, I began writing about my experiences with Blended and Personalized Learning in my math classroom. At the time, I was in my 9th year of teaching middle school mathematics between Chicago and Rhode Island. As a former computer engineer, I was adept with technology, but I could never figure out the right combination to unlock improved instruction with my students.
During the 2017-18 school year, my 7th grade class went 1-to-1 with Chromebooks, and I received some excellent coaching on Blended and Personalized Learning from the Highlander Institute in Rhode Island. It was then that I realized that there was a whole world of tools and techniques that could help me reach more of my students. At the beginning of April 2018, I made the decision to transform my classroom from teacher-centered to student-centered, and I began writing about my journey along the way.
This collection is not meant to be an all-inclusive guide to Blended and Personalized Learning. If you are new to the topic and you would like to know more, I encourage you to take a look at some of the great organizations and articles linked in this eBook for further reading.
I hope you enjoy what I have written, and as always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Enjoy!
